Your data

How your data is handled

A plain description of how the CFETI tools are built, so you can judge for yourself.

What stays on your device

Photos, pasted text, clipboard contents, and vault files are processed and stored in your browser. They are never uploaded. Our server has no function that accepts them, so we cannot read, keep, sell, or lose them.

What Where it lives Does CFETI receive it?
Photos you open in MetaClear Your browser, in memory No
Clipboard contents in PasteGuard Your clipboard No
Text you paste in PlainPaste Your browser, in memory No
Vault files in PhotoWard Encrypted, in your browser's storage No
Loading this site Our server sends the pages Served, not logged

What we do not do

What our server does

Our server sends the pages and their files to your browser. That is all. We keep no access logs, so the server does not record which pages you visited or the address you connected from. Its error log is limited to critical server faults.

Like any website, the network between you and the server can see that a connection was made. The content of that connection is encrypted with HTTPS.

Enforced by your browser, not just promised

Our pages send a Content-Security-Policy that tells your browser to refuse connections to any website other than our own. If a tool ever tried to send your data somewhere else, your browser would block it.

Check it yourself

  1. Open one of the tools in your browser.
  2. Open your browser's developer tools and choose the Network tab.
  3. Use the tool with a test file.
  4. Look for requests that carry your file. You should find none.

Limits worth knowing

Data credits

MetaClear finds the approximate place of a photo by comparing its coordinates with a list of cities stored in the app, so nothing is looked up online. The list comes from GeoNames, used under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 license. The map on the time zones page uses zone boundaries from the Time Zone Boundary Builder project, licensed under the ODbL, and public domain land outlines from Natural Earth.

This page describes how the tools are built. It is a plain description, not a legal contract. Last updated October 24, 2026.
